To Our Loyal Fans and Supporters,
The decision to close Christmas Storybook Land (CSBL) early this year was a difficult choice for us. We work year-long to prepare for the two-week presentation. However, due to the inclement weather, a joint decision was made between CSBL and the Linn County Fair and Expo Center to close. While many of the well-traveled streets were clear, there were still icy patches (including the fairground’s parking lot) that posed a direct and imminent safety threat to our visitors and volunteers.
Unfortunately, we cannot add days to the event because of the limited contract we have with the fairgrounds, along with the ability to recruit the number of volunteers it takes to run each shift…including a Santa!
We know many of you missed the chance to attend this year, and we are very sorry. But, we will be back again, bigger and better than ever! Please visit us during the first two weeks of December next year.
We wish you a peaceful, joyous and safe Christmas!
A VERY special THANK YOU to Cloud City Garrison (of the 501st Legion) and Kashyyyk Base (of the Rebel Legion) for sharing a Star Wars experience with us on Sunday, December 4th at Christmas Storybook Land!
Thank you to all 41,112 guests who visited in 2015!

A huge THANK YOU to all you volunteers who helped Christmas Storybook Land in past years and WELCOME to new volunteers who wish to join Santa’s helpers this year!
Volunteers are needed for tasks including: scene set up and take down, tree pick up, cable/wire/tree set up, greeting visitors, model train operation, Santa, Mrs. Claus and elves, School Tours Helpers, and Senior, Veterans, & Specials Needs Citizens Day Helpers. Also, this year children under 13 accompanied by a parent/guardian can volunteer as costumed characters.
If you were not able to attend the Open House but would still like to help, complete the Volunteer Registration online at ChristmasStorybookLand.org. After registering, phone the activity chairman to schedule the date/time of your activity.
The 40th Christmas Storybook Land Presentation is December 2 to 16 at the Linn County Fair and Expo Center, Cascade Livestock Pavilion, Albany. The event is FREE and operated solely by volunteers like YOU! People of all ages are welcome to help including those under 13 accompanied by an adult.
Merry Ho Ho,
The 2016 Christmas Storybook Land Board
We provide a simulated walk through a Christmas lighted forest where you can view 99 scaled down scenes of Mother Goose rhyme characters, fairy tale characters, and family movie characters, some of which are animated. In addition there are two huge train displays, and a Victorian Village and Main Street. At the end of your walk, you reach the North Pole and can visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus! Although the venue is free to all, you’re encouraged to bring canned food or personal hygiene items for the less fortunate.
In 2015, we had 41,112 visitors and through their generosity, we were able to donate 30,678 non-perishable food items to Fish of Albany’s pantry for local distribution. We are a non-profit corporation, not affiliated with any church, civic, or social organization. The sole purpose of Christmas Storybook Land is to give people of all ages something to enjoy during the Christmas season that is FREE and non-commercial. Christmas Storybook Land is a year-long project. We survive with the help of hundreds of regional volunteers. If you are interested in helping, see our volunteer opportunities or contact us to volunteer.
